Why I hate time management and McDonald's coffee!
August 30, 2011

Hello and welcome to this week's short time management tip.

It will take you only 53 seconds to read this time management article. Here is your time management tip for this week.

Time Management Tip

Poor time management is like getting your coffee from McDonalds.

Are you a coffee lover? (or do you know someone who is?) Imagine someone who loves their coffee. They know there is a fabulous coffee shop about 5 minutes from their home. The coffee shop is a little out of the way, but you know how to get there. But you most days you get your coffee from any cafe you drive past, often McDonald's. And the coffee is sometimes really bad, sometimes OK, but never as good as the fabulous coffee shop.

Poor time management is like knowing you can get great coffee, but then buying a bad coffee. And hating the coffee (I'm stressed out). And complaining about the coffee (I am so busy). But still drinking it everyday.

Everybody hates time management. But everybody needs an effective time management system.

Time Management becomes more important everyday as the amount of information and interruptions keeps growing. Time is precious because it is limited. I believe time and energy are the most important resources today. Imagine how you feel when you wait to the last minute to complete that important project for your boss.

How do you feel when you have to rush out and get a birthday present or food for dinner? How do you feel when you forget your anniversary? How do you feel when you miss your son's sports day or your daughter's concert?

Poor time management (or no time management) creates massive stress in your life.

When you think about it, a lot stress in life comes from being under time pressure - from poor time management. Time management is more important than money management, but most people don't act like it is. Think about it this way. Compare these two scenarios: You lose all your money, but you still have the love of your friends and family and you still have your health. You lose all your time -- you are about to die -- you still have the love of your friends and family and you still have your money.

Which scenario would be worse?

Time is your most precious resource. Using your time wisely is the key to a happy, content, fulfilled life.

We all need effective time management skills because using your time wisely gives you the opportunity to be happy, to be healthy, to be loved and give love. Poor time management skills lead to a wasted life. Everybody might hate time management, BUT everybody who improves their time management LOVES IT.

How would it feel to work 15 hours less each week and still achieve your targets? How would it feel to be ahead of your work instead of trying to catch up all the time? How would it feel to be able to totally focus on your family when you get home, instead of worrying about the work you need to do or if you forgot to do something?

Our clients tell us it feels fantastic. Why do we all need to be good at time management? So we can feel fantastic :-)

I believe the importance of time management is massively underestimated. I hope this article will help you realize how Time Mastery is Life Mastery. "The thin line between success and failure can be summed up in 5 words - I didn't have time!"
