Time Management Tip - "The ONE List that is still useful in today's overloaded world."

I hate To-Do lists. But there is ONE list that is very useful today.

Those people who have been to my seminars are probably very surprised that I think there is a list that is useful. You I see in my seminars I passionately describe how "To-Do lists" cause stress, overwhelm, disappointment and a feeling of failure.

So why am I now saying there is a list that can cut hours off your work week? What is this list?

We all have habits that waste our time. When you identify what they are then you can start to cut your work hours. BUT it is very easy to fall back into old habits.

Write a list of the top 4 things you need to STOP doing -- no more than 4.

Print out this list as big as you can on one page. Put the list on your PC or somewhere you will see it most of the day. So, what sort of things go on this list. Here are some examples from my clients.

I will STOP:

  • Looking at emails to see what I will do next
  • Saying yes to all the requests I get
  • Rushing through the day reacting to what happens
  • Getting distracted by irrelevant tasks (even if they are interesting!)

The BENEFIT of having a STOP DOING list is that you will break your old time wasting habits and help you build you new highly effective habits that will cut at least 6.5hrs off your work week!
